Hmmmmmmm…Not really sure what to say about MOVIE 43. It’s rather juvenile and is obsessed with every body organ and/or function that you can imagine (and then some). What’s truly odd about it is that it stars some of the biggest A-list celebrities in the business: Kate Winslet, Hugh Jackman, Live Schreiber, Naomi Watts, Anna Faris, Richard Gere, Dennis Quaid, etc, etc, etc…
The movie is a sketch-comedy anthology not unlike KENTUCKY FRIED MOVIE and AMAZON WOMEN ON THE MOON. But unlike those movies, it’s not nearly as clever or funny. It substitutes real laughs for EXTREME gross-out humor.
With that said, I’d be the biggest hypocrite in the world, if I didn’t confess that I laughed heartily at a number of the scene premises. But they are all so slap-dash that it plays like a really bad episode of Saturday Night Live.
I can get behind this kind of comedy, but I would prefer it to be a little more refined and a little less obvious.
It’s now streaming on NETFLIX and the best thing I can say about the mercifully short movie is that I got my money’s worth.
