Not as perfect as the original MONSTERS, INC., MONSTERS UNIVERSITY is still a delightful tale full of warmth and laughs and is one of the more enjoyable PIXAR films among the bunch.

A riff on REVENGE OF THE NERDS, the story finds Mike Wazowski (Billy Crystal) and James P. “Sully” Sullivan (John Goodman) attending the famed Monsters University where they will learn everything they need to know about becoming the best “Scarers”. Unfortunately Sully feels he can just coast along with little effort due to his legendary family tree, and Mike, well, just isn’t scary.

The two begin at odds with one another, until circumstances plop them on the same side. Joining a fraternity made up of campus misfits, they must learn how to work together and more importantly with others or their dreams might be dashed forever.

The jokes are a little more obvious this time around but that doesn’t stop the film from being endearing and a fun ride. Surrounded by a gaggle of loveable supporting characters, the film has its heart in the right place and is pleasing for all ages.
