I have seen THE AVENGERS now five times and it never fails to entertain. I obviously wanted to watch it again before seeing CAPTAIN AMERICA: WINTER SOLDIER to get me pumped up (This review appears later because I wanted to get out the other review sooner).

If you have been living under a rock than you may not know that Marvel Studios has taken their single hero film franchises and expertly crafted a story to bring them all together in one film called THE AVENGERS (as they did decades ago in the comics).

Loki (Tom Hiddleston) the duplicitous brother of Thor (Chris Hemsworth) has resurfaced after his defeat and is after the Tesseract, an all-powerful source of energy. He plans to use it to open up a bridge to another universe and enslave the entire Earth with help of an alien race.

Of course S.H.I.E.L.D. is not going to sit by idly and let this happen, so they launch the AVENGERS Initiative, which ultimately will bring together Thor, Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.), Captain America (Chris Evans), The Hulk (Mark Ruffalo), Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) and Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner) to defeat Loki and the alien horde.

Expertly Written and Directed by Joss Whedon THE AVENGERS is a blast from start to finish. Whedon’s ability to balance epic storytelling and character drama is of such skill that it looks almost effortless.

Craftsmen working at the top of their game provide everything from the jaw-dropping Special FX to the awe-inspiring Production Design and Costuming.

This is a MUST SEE MOVIE and quite possibly the best superhero film ever made. It has everything the genre demands and does it with such cleverness and self-confidence that it deserved all the accolades it received upon its release.

There is so much fanboy joy in this film that it’s almost impossible not to get caught up in the adventure and still want more. Treat yourself and watch it again.
